Non-indigenous settler woman, of Jamaican and Irish descent. I am a mother, a wife, a daughter, a sister, an auntie and a friend.
"Making complex financial concepts clear and actionable through open communication helps me support communities and build confidence throughout their financial journey.”
I approach my work with humility and a deep commitment to learning from the communities I serve. My husband and daughters are members of the Apitipi Anicinapek Nation (formerly Wahgoshig First Nation), and my family’s connection to the land and community has shaped my perspective in both work and life.
I started my career as a bank teller at a local community credit union, where I developed a passion for grassroots financial services and supporting my neighbours. Over time, I worked with several financial institutions, always gravitating toward roles with a community-first focus. Eventually, I returned to school to pursue a master’s degree, specializing in sustainability and indigenous economic development.
My studies translated to roles as an economic development officer for an Indigenous community and later within an Ontario municipality. Both these positions deepened my commitment to working at the community level and became the focus for my career going forward. When my current role as Senior Advisor for the T.E. Wealth Indigenous Services team opened up, it felt like a meaningful opportunity which gathered my professional and personal experiences and values together in one role.
In guiding communities through the investment process, I seek to understand their values, financial priorities and goals. Whether helping to establish a new trust or supporting a decades-old one, I work to help ensure each community’s personalized vision and values are realized.
Beyond the Office
Outside of work, I prioritize spending time with my family and reconnecting with the land. We’ve moved north to be closer to the community, and I cherish the time we spend hunting and fishing. It’s important to my husband and I that our daughters grow up connected to their land, family, and ancestral roots. These moments ground me and remind me of the importance of the work I do every day.
