As the summer season approaches, so does a sense of optimism — life is gradually returning to normal. We’re excited about entering the early stages of our economic reopening, however we’re also careful to retain the lessons learned from the pandemic – the reminder that nothing in life is guaranteed. Though recent lockdown measures have come into effect across Canada, we view this as merely a detour on the gradual return to normal. Has the stock market peaked?

Economic growth continues to surge forward, yields have risen, equities have outperformed bonds, however many are asking this question. There are three common reasons for this concern. This trend has been depicted in the recent GameStop saga as well as in the rise of Bitcoin, Special Purpose Acquisition Companies and Electric Vehicle Stocks trading.

An optimistic eye on 2021

As we celebrate the new year, the joy of leaving 2020 behind is clouded by the uncertainty that lies ahead: will 2021 be any better? We think it will be – eventually. Right now, we are in peak COVID-19 in much of the world, but forecasts are for a synchronized global economic expansion.
